Ckara Ckara is high up in the andean high lands, seperated from
the nearest city by hours of driving over a rough and windy road.
There are eleven communities in the zone. Homes are crowded together
in small communities, braced against the cold that rules the region
for months on end. Nearby the community of Ckara Ckara is an area
known as "Canchas Blancas" or "White Fields".
It was named after the ice that covers it and turns it white during
the cold months.
Ckara
Ckara is far away from hospitals and medicines. This, along with
the cold climate, means that mortality rates are high. Education
is only available up to the 8th grade. After that, students must
go to Sucre for their studies.
FHI
has been in Ckara Ckara since 2002. |
