BIOGRAPHY:
We were both raised in Oklahoma and met at
Oklahoma State University. The day we married, we moved to Colorado,
where we both worked for the U.S. Forest Service for about four
years before going to Gambia, West Africa with the Peace Corps.
Upon
returning to the States, we spent a couple of years in Arkansas
and then moved to Utah for more Forest Service work. While in Arkansas,
we first learned about Food for the Hungry on the web. Things really
got going in Utah, and by November of 2002, we had quit our jobs
and moved back to Oklahoma to finish raising our support to come
to Bolivia. God really opened our eyes to the needs of the poor
in the Peace Corps, but also to the inadequacies of a merely physical
approach to development. We are very excited now to be working with
an organization that attempts to minister to the whole person, realizing
that God has a plan for each individual and each community and strives
to help meet both physical and spiritual needs. Our current position
is in the area of environmental education and management, which
includes a multitude of disciplines. We look forward to serving
here in Bolivia for several years.
REASON
FOR WORKING WITH FHI: We
are excited to be part of an organization that promotes the truth
that all people are created in the image of God, and that seeks
to minister to the poor both physically and spiritally. |
