BIOGRAPHY:
Bruce:
Bruce was born in Haverhill, grew up in the Salisbury, Mass., area and came to know the Lord while working in Colorado. Bruce left for Bolivia in November of 1984 with Food for the Hungry. He is one of the founders and part of the leadership team of the church “IESUM Casa de Dios” as well as the discipleship training center for indigenous church leaders in the altiplano on the shores of Lake Titicaca. The church was established to actively address the Christian response to the society starting with systematic theological training, vocational workshops, a small loans program and help to the needy. The Biblical Worldview teaching from Food for the Hungry has had a great influence on the setting up of the church as because it is made up of nationals, it will be more sustainable over time.
Miriam:
Miriam (Bolivian) is a Social Worker who came to know the Lord through the revival sparked by Julio Cesar Ruibal. He was presented in the first Transformations video and killed by the Columbian drug mafia as a martyr. Miriam was the supervisor of the child sponsorship program of Food for the Hungry in a poor section of the city of La Paz. Presently she heads up the social services department of the church, works with street people, visits the jail and participates and leads in theological training.
Daniel:
Daniel, 18 years old, enjoys school, playing the guitar and is active in the church youth group. Daniel shows great leadership qualities and recently he has a great interest in Christian apologetics and his reading material is in that direction.
Steven:
Steve (Esteban), 16 years old, plays the violin and enjoys his fish aquarium. Steve as well as Daniel are excellent students in the Highlands International of which Bruce and Miriam helped establish.

REASON FOR WORKING WITH FHI: Working with Food for the Hungry has allowed the Saldis to pursue the Lord's calling on their lives. Their heart's desire is to see the indigenous groups of Bolivia live the blessing that comes from knowing the Lord and following His principles. A church work that is strictly "spiritual" has not brought this about, nor "development projects" separated from a connection with the Lord. Food for the Hungry's purpose is to find balance between the two to produce this desired fruit.
