FHI Bolivia's work is done in a number of
zones based out of the two regional offices in Sucre and Cochabamba.
Zones generally consist of a number of communities in one specific
region accessible in one day or less of travel. Within these zones
operate teams of FHI Bolivia staff. These teams are made up of individuals
drawn together towards a common goal: to transform the realities
of whole communities by combating poverty in all its forms.
Each
individual brings a specialization to the team such as agriculture,
public health, engineering, social work, etc. Generally, zonal teams
live and work together in the communities, coordinating their activities
between programs to be able to address needs at many different levels.
Team members live twenty days in the communities each month, and
most speak the local languages of Quechua or Aymara.
Eliberto
Sivila, an agricultural engineer, is part of the Confital zonal
team. He shares the purpose toward which his team is working: "The
vision of our group is to be a team of excellence, leaders in the
integral development of the region, and valued for our example of
life and work."
