Luis Noda
Country Director
Luis: was born in October 11th and grew up in the city of La Paz, Bolivia. Luis is the oldest son of 3 siblings. From a young age he developed a deep love for the countryside and for nature, being nurtured and instructed by his maternal grandfather, who was an agronomist and who had much influence on Luis. Upon completion of high school, Luis decided to study agronomy in respect of his grandfather's memory. At this period of his life Luis also responded to Jesus' invitation to accept Him as Lord. Luis recalls: "I could not resist the love of Christ". During his college years he linked with the University Christian Community, which marked his life with regards to viewing his professional career as part of his Christian service.
Luis graduated as Agricultural Engineer from Cochabamba UMSS and began working in Agricultural and Rural Development. Thanks to the Belgian Government's support, he received scholarships to complete two master’s degrees in Belgium, the first in Agricultural Development (at the Ghent University) and the second in Development Evaluation and Management (Antwerp University). As his academic formation demonstrates, Luis has always been motivated to work in the development field because he considers it his own responsibility to improve the living conditions of people in need.
Luis has been married to Jimena for 11 years. He met her at during his college years in Cochabamba. The couple has been blessed by two children, a boy and a girl.
Luis worked in FHI/Bolivia during the year 2000. He prayed to the Lord for an opportunity to work in his career within a Christian institution. During his time in FHI/Bolivia he was able to learn about the VOC, which he considers a confirmation from the Lord that He had been speaking to his life.
Luis and Jimena have a long experience of living the Gospel in the church and community. They give thanks to God for having met Jesus in their youth. They are committed to leading their children in the Lord’s path and attend the Anglican Church of Cristo Salvador in La Paz city.
Jimena was born in Cochabamba on June 12th, the youngest sister of 4 siblings. Like Luis, she loves nature and the countryside. Her maternal grandparents owned a property beside the Laguna Angostura (Outside Cochabamba). She knew the Lord since she was a child and she was always involved in church activities. Luis mentions that Jimena is his model of Christian commitment to the church. After finishing high school, Jimena decided to study for technical degrees. She obtained degrees in Computer Programming and Accounting. At the moment she has a very demanding job as a full-time mother, at least until her children grow a little more.
Luis mentions that he has a lot of respect and gratitude to his wife for the support and the valuable partnership during so many life events; in their lives and especially during the years that they spent overseas. When they first went to Belgium, Jimena was 3 months pregnant and still preferred to go along with him and have her first born without the support of her family and despite knowing she could have remained in Bolivia.
Isaías was born in January 4th, in Ghent city, Belgium. He is 8 years old. His parents explain that Jimena got the name in during a prayer time for her baby. Isaías studies at Instituto Americano School in La Paz. In his short life he had the opportunity of receiving education in 3 different languages: Dutch, English and Spanish. The Dutch is almost forgotten, but he still preserves some of the English.
Harumi was born in September 14th in La Paz. She is 4 years old. The date of her birth is an anecdote, since she was born in the city where Luis was born and in the day of Cochabamba’s anniversary, in which Jimena was born. In this way she pleased both parents. Her name is Japanese meaning "princess of the spring," given to her by her grandfather. She receives home schooling thanks to the initiative of Jimena and a friend from church.

OSCAR MONTES
Director
of Programs
Oscar
Montes has worked with FHI for 15 years. He began as a CDP center
librarian in the Potosi office, then became a greenhouse tecnician,
later an agricultural technician in Sucre, a trainer, an agricultural
supervisor, Regional Director of the Cochabamba office, and finally
Regional Director of the Sucre office where he works now.
During
his time as Regional Director of Sucre, construction was completed
on an irrigation system that stretches 15 kilometers and benefits
2,500 families.
"I
want to give glory to the Lord, for having given us the privilege
of showing the community of Tomoyo the dream that God had for this
zone with regard to the irrigation canal construction and the results
of building them into an integrated model community for Bolivia
and the world. May God be glorified."
Oscar's
vision for his work includes the following:
* To form leaders with vision, dedication and passion to serve the
kingdom of God.
* Establish model communities in our work zones for the furthering
of the Kingdom of God on earth.
* Establish the model discipling strategy in the world and to make
it replicable in our country and others that are under developed
so that they may come to know the Truth of the Transforming word
of God.
* To share the Biblical worldview with leader and pastors of influence
in Sucre so that the Church may fill the roll that God has entrusted
to them.
Oscar's
time with FHI has been a time of incredible blessing.
"This
is the most marvelous ministry that any man could experience. To
grow in the Lord, together with our family while serving the believers
within FHI so that they can develop the potential that God has given
them and at the same time be part of this great privilege to serve,
is incomprehensible – it just passes human understanding.
It is the grace of God!! FHI has been and is still a school in which
one is encouraged to grow integrally. It does not compare to any
other organization, given that the standard of FHI is the standard
of the kingdom of God. Praise the Lord for such mercy, for countless
heavenly blessings, even for material possessions that exceed our
own expectations. We have been called to this ministry in accordance
with the perfect will of God."

FRANCISCO RODRIGUEZ
Director of Finances and Administration
Francisco
Rodriguez began work with FHI 18 years ago. He is the head of finances
and administration. Working with FHI has been a revelation for him
with regards to development work.
"During
the years that I worked as a Christian with the intention of service
and care of my neighbours, I did not have a clear picture of development.
I thought that plan of God was nothing more than a surrending of
man’s soul. The concept of development that I had was very
primitive and basic. With a Biblical worldview doctrine, there is
a deep perspective in my life and the purpose of God. It changed
my philosophy of the plans of God and of man and the creation. I
give thanks to the Lord for this. I firmly believe that this was
a revelation of God for my life in his all encompassing wisdom."
"FHI
is a true blessing of the Lord in my life. It is difficult to express
the emotion that I feel in having been permitted to work in FHI.
The fellowship with believers, the service, the search for the Lord’s
will, and the VOC are all clear proof of the plan that God had for
me."
